As the festive season begins to approach, the time for hosting and entertaining guests comes, too. If you’re looking to get your home holiday ready, then here are our top tips.
1. Prepare your guest bedroom
Providing a cosy and inviting space for your guests is top of our list. Preparing fresh bedding and towels will make your guests feel welcomed and ensure they have the perfect space to retire at the end of the day.
2. Fragrances
Fragrances can say a lot about your home! This time of the year, opting for warmer scents such as cinnamon, vanilla and fresh pines will get your guests in the festive spirit as soon as they walk through the door. Think about switching up the scents of your hand soaps and laundry fragrance, as well as candles and diffusers.
For those who prefer an artificial tree instead of a real one, use eucalyptus or pine stems around your home (or even placed inside your artificial tree) to replicate the nostalgic smell of a real tree.
3. Dinnerware
Setting up a festive tablescape is one of our favourite holiday activities. Christmas is the perfect time to get out some of your fancier tableware and glassware to celebrate the festivities. Throughout the season you can also make use of pitchers, breadboards and serving bowls or platters to display some of your favourite dishes when hosting.
4. Cosy additions
It goes without saying that this is the perfect season to make your home as cosy as possible. Lighting candles, adding blankets and making use of lamps can go a long way to making your home feel more textured. Stay neutral and natural with your accessories so that you can re-use them each year when the colder months approach.
5. Festive Touches
If you have a large home, then go for multiple trees – you don’t have to add baubles to all of these, instead you can simply add some warm white fairy lights and leave the trees bare. If you’re shorter on space, or working on a smaller budget, then try utilising foliage or garlands that match your festive colour scheme over your mantle or staircase instead.
